Ayon Naranjo, the Bukidnon-based fighter who figured in a near-tragic accident in Japan recently, arrived in the country today ready to start a new life out of the squared arena.

Naranjo, who arrived with manager Leonil Lazarito in Manila yesterday, had lost on a one-sided six-round unanimous decision to hot Venezuelan prospect Jorge Linares in Yokohama last September 25 underneath the Yutaka Niida-Yukka Gejon WBA title bout.

"Fortunately (Naranjo) escaped a crisis without undergoing a brain surgery and was moved to a ward from an ICU (intensive care unit). It was very fortunate the hospital was located just five minutes by car from the Yokohama Arena, and the Japanese commission's medical preparation with the ring physician Dr. Otsuki's instructions, was superb enough to save the boxer's life as he was sent to hospital within 30 minutes after his bout," reported Japanese boxing journalist Joe Koizumi.
