PURSE SPLIT PROBLEMS ? HERE IS A SUGGESTION FROM A FAN

First it was all about the foolish demand for ?Olympic-style random blood testing.? When no agreement was reached, the big fight went to the gutter.
Lately, in an effort to make the fight happen in November, Pacquiao, the newly elected Philippine Congressman decided to ease his objections against the conditions set by the loudmouth from Detroit, Mayweather Jr., and agreed to the ?14 day cut off date? for the testing.
That particular ?cut-off date? was suggested by Mayweather himself dating back to the initial negotiations last year.
But now, Mayweather wants more.
Mayweather Junior wants a ?no cut ?off date? potentially allowing who ever is doing the testing to draw blood from either fighter up to the day of the fight.
Of course that is absurd!
Mayweather has no right to make such demands. He is not the NSAC who sets the rules in Nevada where the fight can potentially happen.
And, in addition, it appears that Mayweather now wants more money.
There is only one word to describe such additional condition: - insane!
A boxing fan from San Diego wrote this writer to give his 2 cents worth regarding the purse split demands.
Rob Owen an ex-serviceman said:- ? why not give a guaranteed 45% each for Pacquiao and Mayweather. After the fight, the winner gets an additional 10%.?
It?s an old suggestion but still it is a brilliant idea.
Owen?s proposal is not only very fair.
It will also guarantee and slam-bang affair. Mayweather may be forced to fight and win because that extra 10% of a potential 40 million dollar purse is not exactly small change.
Sadly however Owen?s suggestion it will not work
There is no way Mayweather will accept such purse split because he knows in his heart, he can not beat Pacquiao.
In addition, Mayweather is so in love with himself ( read:- a giant ego!) and he feels that win or loss he deserves the bigger purse. They don?t call the guy ?Money? for nothing, you know.
Of course, with his new found fame and his achievements as a fighter, Pacquiao is the one that deserves the bigger purse.
But unlike Mayweather, Pacquiao is a reasonable fellow.
He will take a 50-50 share.
So if the fight does not happen, we only have one guy to blame.
Mayweather Junior.
What a bummer!
