RESULTS FROM THE NOKIA FIGHT NIGHT

Los Angeles, CA: David Rodela, the fast rising star of the Golden Boy Promotions, won via split decision at the Nokia Fight Night. Rodela, the ex-Manny Pacquiao sparmate, beat Eric Cruz of Manati, Puerto Rico via a split decision. The scores were 77-75, 77-75 for Rodela and 78-74 for Cruz.

With the win, Rodela improved his record to 15-3-3, 6KO while Cruz dropped to 7-3-3, 7KO.

Freddie Roach of the Wildcard Gym worked the corner of Rodela together with Team Rodela from Oxnard, CA.

In the supporting main event, unbeaten young welterweight, Frankie Gomez of Los Angeles made short work of Nigerian Akeem Akinbode. Gomez battered Akinbode all over the ring and did not give the Nigeria time to set up. The fight was stopped at 46 seconds of the first round with Akinbode hanging for dear life and unable to respond to the incessant attack of Gomez.

Gomez is now 3-0-0, 3KO while Akinbode dropped to 13-1, 1KO.

In the TV sing bout, Jesus Rodriguez (2-0-0) of Van Nuys, C won via a UD over Jesus Juarez of Pomona who was making his pro debut. The scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 39-37.

In the opening TV bout, Jose Navarro (27-5-0, 12KO) survived the occasional onslaught of Benji Garcia (14-15-3, 1KO) of San Diego and won via a UD with the following scores: 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54.

Ramon Valdez of Los Angeles in his pro debut beat Javier Romero of Campton, CA via unanimous decision.

There were three amateur fights and the results are as follows:

Juaquin Chavez of Commerce, CA beat Osmond Alex Reyes of Pasadena

Xavier Montelongo of East LA beat Carlos Morales of Pasadena, CA.

Kevin Luna of Hawaiian Gardens, CA beat Alfonso Sanchez of Commerce, CA.
