Philippine welterweight king Dondon Sultan gets another chance at glory when he trades leathers with Pan-Asian Boxing Association (PABA) welter titlist Pakphum Chengphonak for the latter's belt on October 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Sultan (11-5-2, 6 KO's) is coming off a seventh-round technical knockout loss at the hands of Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) welter ruler Kazuhiko Hidaka last July 21, and has reportedly vowed to redeem himself with a victory over the Thai champ.
The unbeaten 30-year-old Chengphonak is the former 1998 Asian Games gold medalist who competed twice in the Olympic Games. He captured the PABA crown by disposing of Filipino Christopher Saluday last May 30.
Meanwhile, ex-OPBF titlist Rev "Gentle Giant" Santillan, who is set to face OPBF welter champ Kazuhiko Hidaka on December 3, has already intensified his training for his upcoming rematch with his conqueror.
Hidaka had stopped Santillan in the fourth round of their previous encounter on March 19, and had since defended it once against Dondon Sultan.
Santillan, who is training at the Wakee Salud Gym in Cebu, has vowed to exact revenge on Hidaka.
