All Set for BEST OF BOXING 1 in Mandaue City

It's all systems go for Saturday night's BEST OF BOXING 1 fight card at the Mandaue City Sports Complex as Larry ?Bon Jovi? Canillas and Dexter Mendoza made the required superbantamweight limit during the official weigh-in held Friday noon at the ALA Gym in Nasipit,Talamban, Cebu City.

Canillas (12W-2L with 11KO's) hails from Toledo City and is one of the rising stars coming out of the ALA Gym. His fight against Mendoza (11W-7L-2D, 4 KO's) was upgraded as the main event after the wrist injury sustained by former world minimumweight champ Katsunari Takayama of Japan, who was supposed to fight Jayson Rotoni.

Canillas got the monicker ?Bon Jovi? because of his all action, rocking and rolling style of fighting as well as his talent for karaoke. He has knocked out his last five opponents.

Arnel Tadena of Tagbilaran City has replaced Takayama as Rotoni's opponent and both made the stipulated weight. The other supporting bouts include superbantamweight Jun ?Flash? Intor who will take on Jason Tarroja in a six round bout, Rolito Gasca of Barili,Cebu versus Jessie Albaracin of Davao City in a ten round bout, Marjhun Macahilig of Kalibo, Aklan versus Elbert Guardiario of Davao City in an eight round contest, Jamjam Ungon of Bantayan Island and Joy Pol of Bohol and Jicky Gaco of Cebu will face Carlito Solante of Bohol. Pol was over the specified weight limit and will be penalized by wearing heavier gloves against Ungon.

The fights will start at 6 PM.
