Junior middleweight hot prospect, Alfredo Angulo ( 18-1-0-15KO?s) of Cochella, CA last night at the Citizen Business Bank Arena at Ontario California scored a sensational knock-out over a tough Columbian veteran, Joel Julio (35-4-0, 31 KO?s).
Julio at the beginning of the fight gave Angulo a good run for his money. In fact, in the first quarter of the fight he was consistently beating Angulo to the punch.
However, as the fight progressed, Angulo kept on pressing forward and started to impose his will. Julio in the meantime switched to a survival mode style of fighting, punching less and from out of range.
In round 11, after Julio was pinned on the ropes, he threw a right which missed. Angulo then countered with a giant right hook that landed flushed on Julio?s chin and knocking him down to the canvas.
Although he was able to beat the count, referee Raul Cais Sr has seen enough and waved the fight off.
Angulo, with the victory won the WBO Interim Junior Middleweight Championship.
