Anthony ?Rocky? Marcial won by second round TKO over Daryl Pucdol in the main event of ?The Next Prospects? fight card held at the Mandaue City Plaza Square Saturday night.

Marcial, from the Top Contender Gym of Manila, overpowered Pucdol from the opening bell with a series a power shots. Pucdol?s corner saved him from further punishment as they signalled their capitulation at 44 seconds of round two.

Marcial is now 16W-1 L, with 15 KO?s. He is a former WBO Asia-Pacific jr.lightweight champion. Marcial lost in an upset 3rd round TKO in a non-title bout last May 2009 at the Cebu Coliseum to Jack de Asis when his left eye was shut prompting the ring physician to recommend a halt to the bout

Adonis Cabalquinto of the Top Contender Gym won his professional debut by fourth round knockout against Alde Sosa of the Sanai Boxing Gym. The junior welterweight fight was a free swinging brawl and a flurry of punches dropped Sosa at the ring center. The referee reached the ten count at 1;56 of round four.

John Mark Apolinario of the Yraola Boxing Gym won by unanimous decision over Jason Geda of Cebu. Geda was knocked down by a body shot in the opening round but claimed it was a low blow.

In the succeeding rounds Geda was more content with clowning and hitting on the round card girls. Things got serious in the 4th when Geda landed some hard shots. But Apolinario won the succeeding rounds and survived Geda?s last round rally to win by scores of 77-74, 78-73 and 78-73 in their eight round bantamweight contest.

Jose Ocampo of Saranggani engaged veteran Jaime Barcelona of Bukidnon in a gruelling eight round shootout. Barcelona faded in the endgame and was deducted a point in the final round after intentional spitting out his mouthpiece twice.

The scores for this junior lightweight bout read: 77-74, 78-73 and 77-74 for Ocampo?s unanimous decision victory.

Rodney Rafols of the Top Contender Gym won by six round majority decision over Edson Serrano of the Omega Stable. It was a hard fought featherweight brawl where defense became a mere suggestion. The scores ? 59-55 and 58-56 for Rafols and 57-57.

Lt.flyweight Edward Penerio of the Yraola Boxing gym won by seventh round TKO over Andy Seneres of the Tibay stable. Sharp one-two combinations from Penerio repeatedly rocked the head of Seneres.

As the fight wore on, Seneres bled from a cut on his left eyebrow. Penerio knocked Seeneres down in round six and scored two knockdowns in the next round prompting the referee to stop the fight at 58 seconds of the 7th round.
Anthony ?Zorro? Sabalde of SGG Cebu relied on a strong finish to win by unanimous decision over Jerpol Valero of Mandaue?s Phil-Aust gym in their six round flyweight bout. The scorecards read ? 58-56, 60-54,60-57.

Ivan Soriano of the Yraola Boxing gym won by split decision over Jayme Bermeso of the Sanai Boxing gym in their four round mini-flyweight bout. The scores ? 40-36 and 39-37 for Soriano and 39-37 for Bermeso.

Angelo Marcial of the Top Contender gym used a vicious body shot to stop Edmar Tunacao of the Phil-Aust Gym of Mandaue in 1:37 of round two of a scheduled four round mini-flyweight bout.

For the first bout of the evening, flyweights Virgilio Silvano of the Omega Boxing gym and Junilo Salvador of the Phil-Aust Gym battled to a majority four round draw. The scorecards read ? 39-37 for Silvano while two judges scored it 38-38.

This fight card was free to the public courtesy of SGG Promotions and held at the Mandaue City Plaza Square. It made history as for the first time in the Philippines a boxing promotion was halted midway and the lights were switched off for EARTH HOUR.
