Downtown LA:- Two of the young rising prot?g?es of the Golden Boy Promotions took care of business tonight in a very emphatic way. They both won their fight via knockouts.
First was Ronny Rios, the undefeated lightweight from the nearby City of Sta. Ana. Rios ( 10-0-0, 5KO) knocked out journeyman Andres Ledesma (15-17-1, 10KO) of Miami, Florida in the 5th round of a scheduled six rounder.
Then Abner Mares, the ex-Mexican Olympian who is better known in the Philippines as the conqueror of Robert Allanic and Diosdado Gabi improved his record to (20-0-0, 13KO) by beating a journeyman as well, Felipe Almanza ( 19-16-3, 9K0) of Lorica, Columbia.
Mares used a devastating body attack to breakdown Almanza and punctuated it with a right upper cut that brought the Columbian down for the count in his own corner.
In the curtain raiser, Dion Savage of Flint, Michigan (7-0-0,5KO) knocked out Danny Stainislavjevic of Los Angeles (8-18-4,4KO) at 2:52 of the first round.
Anatolly Dudchenko of Cherson, Ukraine (8-2-0, 6KO) in the very next fight also scored a 1st round KO. Dudchenko floored Harley Kilfian of Menomonie, Wisconsin (8-5-0, 7KO) in 1:08.
In the first fight for TV, Derrick Wilson (5-1-2, 2KO) of Fort Meyers, Florida and Adam Ochoa (2-2-0, 1KO) of Amarillo, Texas fought to a majority draw with scores being 38-38, 38-38 and 39-37.
