THE MAYOL-NINO PROMOTER IS FLAT WRONG!

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico -- If the statements made by Robert Garcia quoted and published by Robert Coster on Fightnews.com are accurate, then I must state that Garcia is flat wrong.
He should at the very least be a true Mexican gentleman and apologize to Rodel Mayol.
Garcia’s statements are nothing but a product of his group’s frustrations in not getting the title back for his boxer, Omar Nino.
Omar Nino did not deserve a victory that night. He deliberately cheated and he deserves to be disqualified.
Garcia may be a big part of the promotions, but that does not give him the rights to mess up with the character and integrity of Mayol.
Garcia allegedly stated that “Mayol is a comedienne and just laid on the mat to keep his title without fighting as a champion should. Omar was robbed of a legitimate victory."
I wonder, which fight was Garcia watching?
Did he not see the clear low blows and the illegal left shot thrown by Nino?
Perhaps he needs a visit to his eye doctor!
For the record, let me state the following:
Garcia was nowhere near Mayol when the poor kid was stretched on the canvas.
I was.
In fact as Mayol’s cutman I was the first person to jump in the ring to offer assistance to the Filipino champion. I even got to Mayol’s side before the official ring doctor did.
Garcia never knew what transpired when I got to Mayol’s side and never heard my conversations with him after I successfully revived him from the devilish knockout punch delivered by the “foul prone” Omar Nino.
Mayol wanted to get up when he regained his senses and continue to fight but it was I that made him stay on the mat to await further medical evaluation and assistance from the ring doctor, Dr. Nadia Becerill. The good lady doctor also advised him to stay down after I requested her to ask that an ambulance crew come and take Mayol to the hospital.
For Garcia to make those unfounded statements is really pretty cruel and unprofessional.
He knew nothing of the actual medical issues that went on to even have a basis to tarnish the image of Mayol.
Garcia’s statements if indeed are true speaks volume of the character of the man.
In my opinion, he does not belong in the business of boxing and is an embarrassment to Boxeo de Gala, the promotional company that put the fight together.
