The Tabunok, Talisay Sports Complex will host an exciting fight card this Saturday February 13, 2010 organized by the “Dynamic Talisay Triumvirate” or DTT Events and Promotions,Inc.
Headlining the event billed as “BINUKBOKAY SA TALISAY” will be an eight round bout between lt. flyweights Reil Mandate of the Omega Boxing Gym of Mandaue City and Ruther Del Castillo of the Ringside Stable of Manila.
The boxers had their official weigh-in Friday morning inside the Red Moon Cafe at Gaisano Tabunok in Talisay City supervised by Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Mandate weighed 107 ? lbs while Del Castillo weighed 108 ? lbs.
This fight card will also feature a “rare” sight inside a Philippine ring – junior middleweights. Jaime Siscon (149 ? lbs.) will face Tiger Tyrus (153 lbs.) in a six round bout.
The supporting main event is the clash between Andy Se?erez of the Yanie Sta. Cruz stable of Talisay City (107 ? lbs) and Jerpaul Valero (108 lbs) of the Omega boxing gym.
There will be four preliminary four round contests: superflyweights Memar Dula (115 ? lbs) of the Yanie Sta.Cruz stable vs. Rey Villar (113 ? lbs)of the Omega Boxing Gym, superfeatherwieghts Jeffrey Segara ( 130 lbs) of the Yanie Sta. Cruz Stable vs. Ariel Adan ( 135 lbs) of the Phil-Aust gym of Mandaue City. Adan was required to shed more weight and penalized to wear heavier gloves during the fight.
Lt. flyweights Sary Canonigo (107 lbs) of the Yanie Sta. Cruz Stable vs Ervin Yamo (110 lbs) of the Phil-Aust Gym and mini-flyweights Delmar Cabatas (Yanie Sta.Cruz Stable) vs Dionilo Salvador (Phil-Aust Gym) both of whom weighed in at 104 lbs.
This fight card was initially scheduled last month but one of the main event fighters. Ruther del Castillo had amoebiasis and was given time to recover. The organizers will also feature amateur fights in the under card.
Before Talisay officially became a city, it produced world champions like Bernabe Villacampo (WBA flyweight 1969-70), Frank Cede?o (WBC flyweight 1983-84), Eric Chavez (IBF minimumweight 1989) and Rolando Pascua (WBC lt. flyweight 1990-91).
The organizers want to continue this tradition and already bought a 2000 sq.meter lot in Talisay City where they plan to have a gym and train a pool of amateur and professional boxers.
Also attending the weigh-in and press conference were DTT President Milbert Dacayana and referee Teddy Alivio. INTV CCTN network will handle the TV coverage. Tickets are affordable at 50, 300 and 500 pesos and are available at the Red Moon Chinese Restaurant in Talisay City. Fights start at 6 PM.
