Las Vegas, NV:-Golden Promotions and KZ Event Productions in cooperation with Sampson Boxing LLC made up for the canceled January 30th Mosley-Berto Fight at the Mandalay Bay by putting up an exciting fight card at the Hard Rock Hotel last Friday night.
Headlining the event was a title bout featuring Beibut Shumenov of Kazakhstan, the IBA Light heavy weight champion versus Gabriel Campillo, the WBA Light heavy weight champion from Madrid, Spain.
Campillo upset Shumanov last August 2009 via a controversial split decision. In that fight held at Kazakhstan, both fighters suffered knockdowns.
At the fight Friday night Campillo (19-3-0, 5KO) who appear calm and collected all through the fight seem to have landed the heavier shots and had Shumanov in trouble late in the fight but was not able to finish him off.
In the end however, Shumanov (9-1-0, 6KO) who threw more punches and who out-worked Campillo in the last two rounds came out the winner via a split decision. The judge’s scores were117-111 and 115-113 for Shumanov and 117-111 for Campillo.
Shumanov now holds both the IBA and WBA titles.
The results of the other fights are as follows:
Elroy Perez of Salinas, CA beat David Rodela of Oxnard, CA via unanimous decision.
Scores were 97-93,97-93 and 98-92.
Carlos Molina of Norwalk, CA stopped Tyler Ziolowski of St Joseph, MO in 54 seconds.
Rony Rios of Santa Ana, CA won via a UD over Wilshaun Boxley of Coon Rapids, MN.
Scores were 59-55,60-64, and 59-55.
Jessie Vargas of Las Vegas beat Rickey Kinney of Baton Rough, LA via UD. Scores were 40-36,40-36,40-36.
