WBO Intercontinental Superbantamweight champ Ramie Laput secured his Austrian Visa just in time before their scheduled departure tonight 6.20 pm via Qatar Airways from Manila to Doha then to Vienna , Austria.
Promoter Sammy Gello-ani has informed that he was able to secure an Austrian National Visa instead of Schengen Visa whom they availed for Team Laput ( manager Ken Smith of the ABA of Digos City and Lelios Siodina) to be able to fly direct to Austria without passing thru European countries. Laput is scheduled to defend his WBO Intercontinental Belt and unify it with WBO European title against Zsolt Bedak in Soelden, Austria on December 4.
Laput ( 38W-3L, 18 KO?s) has previously held the WBO Asia-Pacific superbantamweight crown. He won the Intercontinental belt with a 12 round decision over Donreil Marcos in Davao del Sur.
Last May, Laput was dominating his fight against rugged veteran Ratanachai Sor Vorapin at the Cebu Coliseum and Vorapin decided to retaliate with a roundhouse kick in the 11th round leading to the Thailander?s disqualification.
His opponent Zsolt Bedak is an undefeated Hungarian with a record of 14 W-0 L, 4 Ko?s. A familiar name on Bedak?s record is German Meraz, who he beat last year by eight round unanimous decision. Meraz fought in Cebu against Gerry Penalosa last February and lost a ten round unanimous decision.
Bedak is 26 years old and fought all of his pro fights in Europe.Laput is in a must win situation as he is highly ranked by the WBO and is in line for a shot at the world crown.
