The ALA Gym's Czar Amonsot will be fighting his second straight African this October 16 when he faces the Black Tiger of Thailand, Jesus Muzaka in a ten round non-title bout. Amonsot has fought twice this year since being sidelined for a year and a half after his brutal battle against Australian Michael Katsidis. In January, he scored an easy fifth round KO win over Zoel Fidal of Indonesia but four months later, Czar struggled to win against the Kenyan “Virus” Morris Chule.
Amonsot was suffering from an abscessed tooth prior to the Chule bout. Now after enduring a trip to the dentist and weeks of training, he feels he is ready for his next big test. Amonsot, together with Marjun Yap, Jason Pagara and Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista were at the SM Cebu City Entertainment Center for a public work out Friday evening to promote their October 16 bouts at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
The 24 year old Boholano southpaw has a fight record of 20 wins (KO 11) 3 losses and 1 draw. Czar said after the work out that he is well prepared for Muzaka.
The 29 year old Muzaka hails from the Congo, a war torn country in the heart of Africa. Fight fans should not be mislead by his 16 wins (8 KO's) –7 loss record. He was a former amateur standout and moved to Thailand to pursue a professional career where he adopted the Thai name of Singwancha. He is remembered by boxing fans in Naga, Cebu for his WBO Asia Pacific superfeatherweight title victory against Rey Labao. Muzaka gave a memorable and overpowering performance. He walked through Labao's best punches and punished the Filipino on the ropes. The scorecards read 115 -113 on all three judges.
Trainer Edito Villamor said that this promises to be the most explosive fight of Amonsot’s career. Boxing pundits are in agreement that this fight could even steal the thunder away from the main event.
Headlining the “HAMON SA KAMPEON” October 16 fight card is the return of Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista who will face Indonesian superbantamweight Champion Marangin "Dinamita" Marbun (19-5-1, 7 KO's ) for the interim WBC International title. World rated Pramuansak Posuwan (45-3-1, 24 KO’s) of the Kokietgym of Thailand will test the mettle of RP#5 contender Marjun Yap (11-2, 5 KO’s) of Cagayan de Oro City while Jason Pagara will face another Thai, Decha Bakluaygym.
Fight time this Friday starts at 5 PM and TV coverage is courtesy of ABS-CBN.
