TACABA BOXERS DOMINATE “BINUKBOKAY SA TALISAY”

Young amateur pugs from the Talisay City Amateur Boxing Association (TACABA) won most of their bouts in head to head match-ups against amateur boxers from Mandaue City and Consolacion. The tournament billed as “Binukbokay sa Talisay” was held Saturday night October 3 at the Talisay Sports Complex.

Talisay City boxers won four out of five matches in the seniors division (more than 50 kg.) and seven out of ten bouts for boxers in the 25 to 43 kg. weight categories.

TACABA boxers in the 50 kg. category who won on points were Jake Alvarez against Charlie Pukdol, Lendel Radoc against Roldan Beraso, Jomari Yuson against Edu Serrano. TACABA’s Joseph Deimos won by RSC against Juvan Munos. The lone winner for Mandaue City was Wincislao Gakit of the Phil-Aust Gym who beat Warren Mayormita by RTD 2nd round.

For the boxers weighing 25 to 43 kg., the winning TACABA Boxers were Bob Anhtony Bacus, Lester Dula, Kit Garces, Joshua Bacus, Marco Pumar, Marvin Pumar and Mark Hera. The boxers winning for Mandaue City were Welmark and Melmark Dignos of the Flores Boxing Club and Jason Tunacao of the Phil-Aust Gym.

There as also a special bout between two TACABA boxers where CD Noblefranca beat Alvin Alfuro on points. Part of the evening’s entertainment included a novelty song number and bouts featuring gay boxers. The event was organized by Talisay City local government officials as part of the Mayor Soc Fernandez Cup 2009 in cooperation with the Talisay Sports Commission and TACABA.
