Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista is not going to fade quietly into the night. After being away for almost ten months and having surgery on his injured wrist, he is out to redeem his tarnished image this October 16.

Bautista will vie for the WBC International Featherweight Interim Championship against Indonesian superbantamweight Champion Marangin "Dinamita" Marbun (19-5-1, 7 KO's ) who has taken the place of the indisposed Champion, Rachamongkol (Sor Pleonchit) Kokietgym. The interim title fight top bills another ALA Promotion boxing extravaganza dubbed as " Hamon sa Kampeon" and will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino.
The 23 year old Bautista ( 26 W -2 L with 19 knockouts ) fought in front of sell out crowds here in Cebu and was touted as Philippine boxing's next big thing. He has fought the best in his division but losses to Daniel Ponce De Leon and Heriberto Ruiz not only raised question marks but elicited derisive comments from boxing fans.

ALA Promotion President Michael Aldeguer stated via e-mail that the twin losses has hindered the progress of his ward’s career. "It’s just like starting all over again for him but he remains undaunted as he wants to prove his detractors wrong. We will bring him back gradually."

Marbun has lost to two Filipinos, Ciso Morales and Glenn Porras, a few years back. He has not lost since in his last eight fights. He is highly ranked by various organizations in the Asia-Pacific region.

Bautista's punching power has never been in doubt. He drew fans because they knew he could hurt people. But an interesting back story to his fight is what Boom Boom has really been thinking for the past ten months. It's a long wait for redemption. Will the uninvited break do him good in terms of re-examining his perspective and refueling his desire?

This card will also feature the promising 17 years old Jason Pagara (18-1,10 KO's ) vs. Decha Bankluaygym (29-9-3,16 KO's) of Thailand.

Czar Amonsot (19-3-1, 11 KO's ) will do battle with the Black Tiger of Thailand, WBO Asia Pacific jr.lightweight champion Jesus Muzaka (16-7, 8 KO's). Muzaka is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo and was seen in Naga last July beating Rey Labao in a close and action packed twelve round battle.

The third featured encounter is between world rated WBO Asia Pacific Champion Pramuansak Posuwan (45-3-1, 24 KO’s) of Kokietgym who will test the mettle of fast – rising RP#5 contender Marjun Yap (11-2, 5 KO’s) of Cagayan de Oro City.
