
DE LA HOYA’S BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Las Vegas, NV: Yesterday, the staff of GBP President Oscar de la Hoya boy sent e-mails indicating that he will be making a big announcement head of the Marquez-Mayweather fight At 11:10 am on the Marquez-Mayweather fight day, Oscar de la Hoya walked up the podium located inside the press room and proceeded to make his announcement.
Oscar de la Hoya proudly announced that the Golden Boy Promotions signed the Valenzuelan phenom, Jorge Linares for a series of fights under the Golden Boy umbrella.
Linares, the young man known as “Nino de Oro” is managed by the Honda Group/Teiken Promotions of Japan. They will co-promote the Linares fights with the GBP.
“Unfortunately, too many people here in the US haven’t seen him fight, but we are going to change that and Jorge will finally get the attention and the fights he deserves”, de la Hoya stated.
A veteran of nearly 7 years, Linares a native from Barinas, Venezuela holds a 27-0-0, 18 KO record.
In his first and only US appearance, he beat Oscar Larios last July 21, 2007 to win the vacant WBC featherweight crown. After defending it against Gamaliel Diaz, he moved up to junior lightweight and won the vacant WBA by halting Whyber Garcia in 5 rounds. In his most recent fight, he defended his crown against Josafat Perez, winning via an 8th round TKO.
