GREAT BUT SCARY KNOCKOUTS HIGHLIGHT TACHI PALACE CASINO’S MIXED EVENT

Lemoore, CA: - Goossen-Tutor Promotions and the Tachi Palace Casino held a mixed event Thursday night featuring some local talents and a sprinkling of out of town fighters.
The endings, from the point of view of the fans could not have been better. Surely, they all had a great time.
And, the results of the two main events (one boxing and one MMA) could not be more spectacular and scary to boot.
In the main event for boxing, local boy from nearby Wasco and current WBC CABOFE Champion and WBC # 11 Heavyweight, Manuel Quezada (24-4-0-,18KO) crushed Travis Walker of Tallahassee, Florida to retain his title and extend his victory streak to 17.
Walker who parades a very respectable record of (31-3-1,25KO) was put on the canvas with very sharp short left right combinations and a forceful overhand right with 3 seconds left on the first round.
Walker fell backward like a timber even hitting his head on the canvas with a thud. Referee Jon Schorle upon seeing the condition of Walker did not even bother to count and waved the fight off. Thankfully, Walker got up within a few moments of his knockdown and later walked off the ring in his own power none the worse for his experience.
Two of the boxing matches on the undercard ended rather quickly too but not on the same fashion as the Quezada-Walker fight. They both ended with the corners throwing in the towels.
The first was a win was third round victory by featherweight Rico Ramos (11-0-0, 6KO) of Los Angeles over Juan Jose Beltran (19-14-3,11KO) of Los Mochis, Mexico.
The second was a win by lightweight Jessica Rakoczy (31-3-0, 10KO) of Las Vegas over a seemingly overmatched Jessica Mohs (7-21, 2, 2KO) of Oklahoma City Oklahoma. Mohs’ corner waved the towel at the very last few seconds of the third round and did not allow their fighter to answer the bell for the 4th.
In the other undercard fights, middleweight Adrian Tait (4-1-1,2KO) won by UD over Joshua Zurfluh (1-6-1) of Long Beach. The judge’s scores were all 40-36 for Tait.
Welterweight Hector Alatorre( 16-8-0-5KO) of nearby Tulare scored a UD over Christian Favela (17-20-6,10KO) of Los Angeles. The judge’s scores were 59-55, 58-56, 58-56.
Mike Dallas Jr (9-0-1, 2KO) of Bakersfield scored two KD’s on Francisco Rios (10-10-0,6KO) of Huatabampo, Mexico on the first round leading the referee to stop the fight 2:41 into it.
In the mixed martial portion of the evening’s event, local featherweight Sergio Quinones (3-6) of Lemoore stopped Chris Sanchez of Hanford (1-1) at 1:54 in the first round.
Another local boy, Lightweight Dustin Rocha also of Lemoore, in his first pro fight unfortunately lost Cody Cody (2-0) of Visalia via TKO at 0:32 seconds of the 2nd round.
Shawn “Bang Bang” Bias (15-8) of Oroville, won via a UD over Shawn Klarcyk (9-4) of Porterville in a featherweight bout.
Featherweight Chad Mendez ( 4-0, 1KO, 1 submission) of Hanford kept his record clean with a first round 0:44 seconds knock-out of Steven Siler (1307) of Ogden Utah.
The scariest of the evening’s fights, in both the boxing and MMA portion of the fight card was the very first bout of the MMA involving Light heavyweight Brandon “B-Lo” Lorenz (2-1, 1 submission) of Lemoore and Mark Matthews (1-2) of Sacramento.
Lorenz knocked down Matthews so forcefully with a pair of stinging right hooks to the temple area of the head just above the left eye causing Matthews to collapse in a heap and laid on his back with both feet twitching and toes curled in, a sure sign of concussion.
The ring doctor attended to Matthews for several minutes that seemed like eternity before he finally recovered his senses and finally walked off the ring on his own power, albeit unsteady at first.
