Fernando Lumacad?s chance to score a major upset evaporated with just a single punch- an overhand right - from Jorge ?El Travieso? Arce.

Lumacad was boxing well in the first two rounds as Arce looked tentative and the Mexican even had a cut on his left eyebrow. But in the third, Lumacad got too comfortable and a well timed right from Arce got above the Filipino?s left jab. Lumacad was visibly dazed and did not try to get up. Official time ? 35 seconds of the third round.

This is Lumacad?s second career loss is now 19-2-2 (7KOS) while Arce upped his 14-year professional record to 52-5-1 (40KOs).

This fight was on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Lopez- Olivier Lontchi showdown for the WBO superbantamweight world crown held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey Sunday morning Manila time. Lopez, of Puerto Rico, retained his title after punishing Lontchi, from Canada via Cameroon, with hard body and head shots. Lontchi was knocked down in the second, tried to fight back in the succeeding rounds but went down again in the ninth. Lontchi chose to remain in his stool after the ninth round and suffered his first career loss.

Lopez previous fight was a victory against Gerry Penalosa (10th round RTD). The victory against Lontchi was his 14th consecutive stoppage win.
