Rocky Fuentes (24W-6L-2D, 14KO?s) of the ALA Gym of Cebu City capped an evening of exciting bouts with a smashing second round knockout win over Allan Ranada (7W-21L-1D) of Bohol last Saturday at the Mandaue Plaza. Fuentes repeatedly scored with his left hook including the decisive body punch that finally floored Ranada who was counted out at 2:25 of the round.
Mark Gil Melligen (10W-3L-1D, 3KO?s) of Bacolod City floored veteran Roger Galicia (23W-10L-4D, 7KO?s) in the opening round but the mainstay of the Tiger City Gym of Mandaluyong got up and continued to fight. Both fighters took turns leading and countering but Melligen landed the more powerful blows and cruised to a unanimous decision ten round decision win. The scorecards read: 96-93, 97-92 and 98-91.
Jun Intor once again brought the house down with his antics and won by unanimous decision over Roldan Malinao in a four round contest. Malinao was deducted a point in the last round due to a headbutt but his own blood did not stop Intor from throwing windmill and bolo punches much to the delight of the fans. The scores: 39-36,39-36, 40-35.
Marjhun Macahilig survived a first round knockdown to beat Michael Espinosa by unanimous decision. The scorecards read: 39-37 for all three judges for Macahiliig. Powell Balaba won by split decision over Leo Torres. Jomar Cordinillo won by unanimous decision over JR Salvador, the scores: 39-37 on all three judges. Jherpol Valero beat Melchor Abcede also by unanimous decision, 38-37 on all judges.
The event kicked off the SUMMIT FIGHT NIGHT VISMIN BOXING TOUR that will regularly feature pro and amateur contests free to the public.
