Thursday Boxing Fight Results: Laput retains WBO Intercontinental 122 lb. Title, Sonsona KO's Singwancha, Casimiro KO's Diale

WBO Intercontinental Jr. Featherweight Champion, Ramie Laput ( 38 W ( 20 Kos ) ? 3 L ) and former world champion, Ratanachai Sor Vorapin ( 74 W ( 49 Kos ) ? 12 L ) of Thailand battled for 11 bloody rounds before Vorapin was disqualified for throwing a roundhouse kick.
It was a bizarre ending to what was a one sided affair in favor of the Filipino. A head butt opened a cut on Laput's left eyebrow in the 2nd. The defending champion reacted like a wounded tiger and started punishing Vorapin with crisp combinations. The southpaw Vorapin tried to use guile and ring smarts but Laput responded with blunt force trauma in the form of right hand leads. Vorapin was groggy on several occasions. The Thai started bleeding from the left eyelid and was repeatedly battered on the ropes for the succeeding rounds but still managed to hang on. Vorapin was bleeding from the bridge of the nose while Laput's cut kept getting re-opened. In the eleventh round Vorapin was pinned in the neutral corner and received a brutal volley and in frustration retaliated with a left roundhouse kick that missed. This prompted the ring officials to rule a DQ due to unsportsmanlike conduct.
General Santos City's next big thing Marvin ?Marvelous? Sonsona scored a bone chilling second round knockout win over former two time WBC interim world champ Wandee Singwancha ( 57 W (12 KO?s) ? 11 L ? 1 D). The southpaw Sonsona (12W-0L, 11 KO?s) probed the Thai in the opening round and in the second repeatedly landed his vaunted left including the decisive shot that knocked Singwancha unconscious for a few minutes inside the ring. The Thai had to be assisted by the emergency medical personnel at ringside before he was able to walk out of the ring. Sonsona is now the new WBO Oriental Flyweight champion.
Johnreil Casimiro scored repeatedly with a sledgehammer right hand enroute to an 8th round stoppage win over Arden Diale. Casmiro, who fights out of the Omega Boxing Gym, retained his WBO Asia-Pacific jr.flyweight title.
Jack de Asis (12 (8 KO's) - 11L ? 2 D ) handed Anthony ?Rocky? Marcial his first career loss. Marcial bled from a cut on his left eyelid in the first round due to a head butt. Marcial was rocked by hooks and was sent down on the canvas for the first time by a stunning left. In the third, Marcial's left eye was almost shut thus prompting the ring physician to advise the stoppage and De Asis was declared winner by TKO at 1:29 of the third. This was a shocking upset as De Asis' record on boxrec.com showed a three bout losing streak while Marcial was undefeated with 14 wins, 13 by knockout.
Jason Egera won by split decision over previously unbeaten Thai fighter Petch Kokietgym. Egera was the more aggressive boxer and scored the more telling blows. The score cards read: 77-75 twice for Egera and 77-75 for the Thailander.
For the supporting bouts Bantamweight Roberto Udtohan won by second round TKO over Jose Ricaforte who was knocked down twice in the second. Superflyweight Jovanie Marinduque won by 5th round TKO over Daniel Ponce Belocura who was knocked down twice.Jr. flyweight Jason Canoy won by 5th round KO over Ricardo ? Jun-Jun? Claveria. Canoy was knocked down in the 2nd but he got up and kncoked down Claveria in the 4th. Superflyweight Marco Demecillo beat Edwin Frial by 4th round KO. Frial started to tire in the 3rd and was knocked down as the fourth and final round was ending and he could not beat the referee's count. Featherweight Jeffrey Segara won by second round knockout over Joebert de los Reyes. Superflyweights Marvin Mabait and Jerome Buntog fought to a majority draw and minifyweight Edward Enerio knocked down Jestoni Tunacao twice in the opening round enroute to a first round KO win.
The fight card was be held at the Cebu Coliseum and promoted by SGG SPORTS PROMOTIONS in cooperation with the Kokiet group of Thailand, American Boxing Academy of Digos and Omega Boxing Gym of Cebu. The fights will be aired on a delayed basis on CS 9 every Saturday at 1 PM.
