Cebu fight fans will be treated to another explosive night of boxing this Thursday May 28 as Ramie Laput defends his WBO Intercontinental Jr. Featherweight Championship against battle scarred Thai veteran and former world champ Ratanachai Sor Vorapin (74 W ( 49 Kos ) ? 11 L ). Vorapin is a very familiar face to Filipino fans having lost to the likes of Gerry Penalosa and Michael Domingo. He promises to be Laput?s toughest opponent to date.

It was here in Cebu that Laput ( 37 W ( 20 Kos ) ? 3 L ) won an RP Championship and then later the WBO Asia-Pacific Interim Championship just last October 2008 when he stopped Thai boxer Mongkolchai Singmanasak in 3 rounds. Ramie Laput is now ranked # 6 by WBO. Last December he won the WBO Intercontinental 122 lb. title by 12 round unanimous decision against Donreil Marcos in Davao.

The Marvelous one, Marvin Sonsona will be fighting for the vacant WBO Oriental flyweight title against a two-time former WBO World Champion Wandee Singwancha of Thailand. Sonsona last fought in Naga last May 7 and won by scored a third round TKO win over Louie Bantigue of Cebu in an eight round contest. Sonsona (12-0, 11 KO?s) showcased his awesome punching power as Bantigue collapsed from an accumulation of power shots to the body and head.

Johnreil Casimiro will defend his WBO Asia ? Pacific jr.flyweight belt against compatriot Arden Diale of Dante Almario?s stable. This will be Casimiro?s first defense of his title which he got last October 2008 in Talisay City. Last May 7 in the same Naga fight card, Casimiro beat Allan Ranada of Bohol by unanimous decision in an eight round contest.

The fight card will also feature the fearsome knockout artist Anthony ?Rocky? Marcial (14W-0L, 13KO) against Jack de Asis in a ten round contest. Marcial?s fights used to last an average of only two rounds until last May 7 when he reached the eighth round for the first time but still scored a TKO win over veteran Jaime Barcelona.

Former WBO Asia Pacific titlist Jason Egera will be facing another Thai, Pramunsak Phosuwan in an eight round contest. There will be seven more bouts in the undercard.

This fight card will be held at the Cebu Coliseum and is promoted by SGG SPORTS PROMOTIONS in cooperation with the Kokiet group of Thailand, American Boxing Academy of Digos and Omega Boxing Gym of Cebu. Tickets are reasonably priced at Ringside ? P 500.00 ; Lowerbox ? P 200.00 ; Upperbox ? P 100.00 and Gen. Admission ? P 50.00.
