LOS ANGELES--Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has now breached the 90 percent conditioning level with still two more weeks left before he takes on the Golden Boy Oscar De la Hoya in Las Vegas.
This was the assessment made yesterday by Pacquiao's Filipino trainer Buboy Fernandez in an interview with this writer following another day of heavy training at the Wild Card Gym under the supervision of trainer Freddie Roach.
"Nasa 90 to 95 percent na sya ngayon. Maganda ang tsantsa natin talaga," Fernandez said a day after arriving from San Jose, California to accompany Bobby Pacquiao in his losing fight against Robert Frankel.
The same observation was echoed by Pacquiao's other Filipino trainer and nutrinionist Nonoy Neri, who said that if he was to bet, he'd put all his money behind a Pacquiao victory over De la Hoya, who is currently training at the Big Bear in California.
"We have a big chance against De la Hoya. After that sluggish performance last week, Pacquiao is now back in his old deadly self. I won't be surprised if this ends in a knockout," Neri said.
Meanwhile, the pound-for-pound king is reportedly planning on advising his younger brother Bobby to finally hang up his gloves following the decision defeat the other night in San Jose, California.
