Los Angeles, CA:- We just got word from very reliable people associated with the Jaro Promotions that Pinoy ace fighter, Bernabe Concepcion, will fight on January 11, 2009 for the WBC International Featherweight Championship.
Concepcion will exchange leathers with Sande Otieno of Nairobi, Kenya. The 33 year old Otieno is the former WBC International Super bantamweight champion. He recently lost his crown to Balweg Bangoyan, the slugger known as The Davao Hitman at Davao City.
Otieno has mostly fought at Kenya and his only fights outside of his country were to Said Chiddy in Tanzania where he won via a 7th round technical decision, in Tyumen, Russia where he won via a UD over Marcel Kasimov and in the Davao City where he lost his WBC International Super bantamweight title to Bangoyan.
Otieno parades a record of 16-1-0, 7KOs.
Given the fact that Concepcion( 27-1-1,16KO), the reigning NABF Super bantamweight champion has a better record, he at this point favored to beat the Kenyan.
?Hirap nang kaunti sa timbang yun bata, kaya featherweight na ngayon ang labanan,? the source told this writer.
The fight is set at the Araneta Coliseum and will also feature the other Jaro boxers, Sonny Boy Jaro who will tangle with a Korean TBA and Denver Cuello who will go up against an Indonesian.
