PACMAN, THE DESTROYER

Los Angeles, CA:- If you think that the only ?Pacman? that is a destroyer is Manny Pacquiao, then I have news for you. There is another one, albeit not a boxer.

Early this morning, Bernabe Concepcion called me from the Palazzo apartment of Manny Pacquiao sounding a bit distraught. ? Doc, may malaki akong problema?, he said. (Doc, I have a big problem.). ?Si Pacman po ni-ngatngat yun mouthguard ko.?) Pacman chewed up my mouthguard).

Of course Concepcion would fell distraught. He needs his mouthguard while he spars at the Wildcard Gym in preparation to his fight on July 26th with Adam Carrera at the MGM Events Center as an under card of the Cotto-Margarito tiff.

Concepcion was not referring to the real Pacman who is now enjoying his rest period back home in General Santos. He was referring to Pacman, the dog.

Pacman, the dog is Pacquiao?s pet at the Palazzo. He is rather spoiled and gets his way most of the time. Although very playful and a great stress reliever for Pacquiao when he is in LA training for a fight, he is also known to be destructive. When left alone at the apartment he likes to entertain himself by chewing on almost anything he can get hold of. He would chew the couch, the shoes lying around the apartment and now the mouthguards of boxers who happen to leave them around.

The bad habit of Pacman, the dog however only extend to the boys that stay at the apartment. Pacman apparently knows his limits. He does not chew on Pacquiao?s stuff.

Besides, he is off limit at the upstairs bedrooms.

Tastes like a bone. The photo shows what's left with Concepcion's mouthguard after it was chewed by Pacman, Pacquiao's dog.

Apart from that Pacman is a source of joy to Team Pacquiao. More importantly, he is the only living thing staying at the Pacquiao apartment who can keep up with Pacquiao when he does his training runs either on flat terrains of the Pan Pacific Park near the Palazzo or the hills of Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The rest of the boys simply lag behind.

That alone, qualifies him to have his way at the apartment.

P.S. Concepcion of course got his mouthguard replaced the same day he called.
