Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Boxing superstar Canelo Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) will defend his undisputed super middleweight titles against unbeaten mandatory challenger William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs) this Saturday (Early Sunday in Manila) in a high-stakes showdown at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena.
The fight, promoted as part of Saudi Arabia’s growing boxing spectacle, marks Canelo’s return following his dominant victory over Edgar Berlanga in September. Meanwhile, Scull, a Cuban-born German fighter, steps into the biggest opportunity of his career as the IBF’s top contender.
Face-Off at Final Press Conference
Canelo (60-2-2, 39 KOs), the reigning undisputed super middleweight champion, appeared calm and focused, dismissing Scull's (22-0, 9 KOs) confident pre-fight rhetoric. "He can say whatever he wants," Álvarez stated. "We'll see what happens in the ring. He's going to eat these fists." The Mexican icon is looking to further solidify his dominance in the division and add another impressive victory to his illustrious career.
Scull, meanwhile, remained resolute in his belief that he can dethrone the pound-for-pound king. The Cuban challenger, who has been patiently waiting for his opportunity, exuded confidence, promising to bring his A-game to the ring. "I'm ready for this moment," Scull declared. "I respect Canelo, but I'm here to win and take those belts back home."
Odds & Predictions
Alvarez enters as a heavy favorite (-2000), while Scull is a +900 underdog (Fox Sports Australia). Despite the lopsided odds, Scull’s technical skills and southpaw stance could pose challenges—if he survives Canelo’s power.
Will Canelo cruise to another victory, or will Scull shock the world? Tune in Saturday for a night of fireworks in Riyadh.
