Ancajas stops Mepranum in 2nd round for PH super bantam title

FORMER world champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas of Panabo City stopped Richie “Magnum” Mepranum of Sarangani in the 2nd round to win the vacant Philippine super bantamweight title last night, January 25 at the Public Plaza in Iligan City.

The 33-year-old Ancajas downed Mepranum after delivering several short punches to the body in the second round.

Meprarum was not able to stand up after the mandatory count by referee Delbert Pelegrino.

Ancajas improved his record to 36 wins with 24 knockouts, four loses and two draws while Mepranum, 37, suffered his 10th loss against 38 wins and one draw.

Meanwhile, Samuel “Silent Assassin” Salva of Gingoog City also won by a 2nd round technical knockout over Eldin Guinahon of Misamis Oriental in the main undercard.

In the lone female bout, Iligan’s Ma. Theresa Pinili beat Charimae Salvador by a unanimous decision in 8-rounds.

The event dubbed as “Kumong Solid 2” was promoted by Raffy and Clarrisa Jimenez of the RCJ Promotions.
