Michael Woods of the SweetScience is right on the nose. Writers are not supposed to be taking sides so their product will be as ?honest as can be?.
But when we found out that David Diaz is in dire need of a new car, we thought it would be nice to write this article. It may be unsolicited, but it?s the least we can do for the gentleman from Chicago. Further, it was fun thing to write about.
On top of that, if it happens (which could not be far fetched, knowing Pacquiao?s generosity) it would be a real blockbuster of a story.
We know that Pacquiao often browse the web and read our posts on PhilBoxing. With that we hope that he would take our suggestion and get David Diaz a nice car. It does not need to be like his two seater MZB or his Porsche SUV. A fully equip Lexus will suffice.
Diaz is after all the nicest opponent Pacquiao ever had. A gentleman warrior par excellence. He is one who would never utter expletives and is always respectful of his opponents.
Diaz is also a very good family man. So nice that we would not spend money to buy himself a good car but instead save such for his family.
At the conference call yesterday, Diaz mentioned that he drives an old car without air conditioning to boot. That, we thought is not fitting for a world champion, particularly one as nice as Diaz.
Therefore, we went ahead and wrote this piece. Pacquiao, we are sure is going to see this article. Perhaps he has some change around somewhere that he can use to buy Diaz a nice car with air-conditioning.
Call it a present to someone who is nice enough as Diaz. I am sure Diaz will appreciate it particularly after June 28th when goes home without his WBC belt. Coming home with a nice car will certainly ease the pain.
Note: This article is not meant to insult Diaz who we know is fully capable of buying himself a new car with the $800,000 he will be making on the Pacquiao fight. It is purely done for fun as a follow up to the story regarding his old car.
