CONDES AND HIS TWO WISHES

Los Angeles, CA:- Back on the last week of May, Florante Condes, the IBF minimum weight world champion indicated in an interview with PhilBoxing editor Salven Lagumbay that he wishes to use a signature custom-made mouthguard crafted by our dental offices and Cleto Reyes gloves when he stake his crown against Raul Garcia of Mexico on June 14th.

Lagumbay, in an e-mail conveyed to this writer the wishes of Condes. In reply, we indicated to Lagumbay that it would be our pleasure to provide Condes with one of our signature custom-made mouthguards and requested him to convey that message to Condes who was then training at the ALA Gym in Cebu.

Last night, Condes and his trainer Danny Bactol, accompanied by world class Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani blew into town. They are on a brief five-day stop over on their way to the fight site at La Paz, Mexico. PhilBoxing was on hand at the LAX (LA Airport) to cover their arrival. Also there to greet them was Pex Aves and his family, who are very close friends of Gello-ani. The Aves family drove the trio to their hotel right next to the Wildcard Gym in Hollywood. Condes is set to have a brief training at the aforementioned gym and get acclimatized with the weather and shake off jetlag.

As per arrangements, they came to our offices early this afternoon, and late in the day Condes has for himself a gleaming custom-made red-white-and blue mouthguard and the very best wishes of our entire staff.

With that Condes, got one of his wishes. In his very first world title defense, he will be wearing our signature mouthguard much like his idol Manny Pacquiao, and two of our world champions:- Gerry Penalosa and Nonito Donaire

Hopefully, the promoters in Mexico will grant him his second wish: - that is to use Cleto Reyes gloves.

So be it!
