Los Angeles, CA:- IBF minimum weight champion, Florante Condes arrived in Los Angeles a few of hours ago to continue to prepare for his very first title defense. This is Condes? first trip to the USA.

Condes arrived via Philippine Airlines Flight 102 from Manila accompanied by his trainer Danny Bactol and world-class promoter / manager, Sammy Gello-ani of Cebu.

PhilBoxing was in hand to meet Condes. After all, being a world champion, that is the least Condes deserves. There is nothing more heart-warming than seeing friendly and familiar faces when one lands in a foreign land for the very first time. Also in hand to meet the trio was Pex Aves, a close friend of Gello-ani.

Condes will be defending his title against a mandatory challenger, Raul ?Rayito? Garcia of Mexico. Condes is slated to stay in LA for at least five days before proceeding to La Paz, Mexico, the site of the fight with Garcia. In LA, he will be billeted at the Vagabond Inn right next door to the famed Wildcard Gym in Hollywood.

Condes will continue his training in this city by running in the morning and doing gym work at the Wildcard Gym of Freddie Roach in the afternoon. In so doing, he will continue to hone his fighting skills, acclimatize to the weather and shake off jet lag.

Hopefully, the energetic training regimen of Manny Pacquiao who is training at the same place for his fight with David Diaz on June 28th, will rub off to Condes allowing him the same confidence and bravado Pacquiao has.

The Condes-Garcia fight promises to be a slam-bang affair. Garcia has indicated in previous statements that he is not afraid of the alleged power of Condes. Condes on the other hand had promised to bring back the title to Manila no matter what.

With that, it is safe to assume that Garcia may to stand toe-to-toe with Condes. If he does, hopefully Condes can land his haymakers and end the fight decisively so as not to give the judges a reason to pull off the so-called ?home town decision? which people allege ?can easily happen in Mexico.?
