Las Vegas -- Premier Boxing Champions, one of boxing’s elite promoters held the weigh-in for the much waited and long delayed match of two of the world’s best welterweights, Errol Spence Jr (28-0-0,22KO) of Dallas, Texas and Terence Crawford (30-0-0,30KO) of Omaha, Nebraska.
Spence was 147 lbs. on the nose and Crawford was slightly less at 146 ¾ lbs.
Tomorrow’s fight between the two is for all the marbles with all belts on the line, the undisputed welterweight championship. As they say: “Someone’s has to go” and only one of these two will collect all the belts unless, the God of boxing throws a monkey wrench, and the fight ends up in a draw. Something that is close to impossible, they say.
On the supporting main event, Isaac Cruz (34—2-1. 17KO) of Mexico City came in at 134 ½ and Giovanni Cabrera ((21-0-0, 7 KO) who now fights out of Hollywood, CA both weighed in at 134 Lightweight eliminator and WBC Silver and WBO Latino titles.
In the second supporting main event, the Philippines Nonito Donaire Jr (42-7-0, 28 KO) stepped on the scale at 117 ¼ lbs. while his opponent Alexandro Santiago (27-3-5, 14KO) of Tijuana, MX was 117½ lbs. The fight will be for the WBC Bantamweight belt.
Other results:
Yoenis Tellez (5-0-0,4KO) of Santiago de Cuba and Sergio Garcia (34-2-0, 14KO) of Torrelavega, Spain both weight in at 155 ½ lbs.
Steven Nelson (18-0-0,15KO) of Omaha, NB …167.8lbs
Rowdy Montgomery (10-4-1, 2KO) …166.8 lbs.
Jose Salas Reyes (12-0-0, 9KO)….121.6
Aston Palicte (28-5-2 (23KO) of Bago City, Philippines …123.4 lbs.
It is noteworthy to mention that not too many in the Filipino community know that Palicte is in town let alone fighting on the Spence-Crawford undercard. In fact, the support people that were on the stage with Palicte were not Filipinos at all.
