LOS ANGELES -- Bob Arum and the Top Rank Promotions this afternoon hosted the very first of the many press conferences they plan to hold with both David Diaz and Manny Pacquiao in attendance.

Judging from the fairly large media crowd that attended the event headlined by such big time writers as LA Times Lance Pugmire and first rate boxing photographer, Cris Farina, Top Rank would not have a problem drawing the media in any city they will go.

The Diaz-Pacquiao event can only be described in one word:- Classy!

There was none of the boasting and intimidation that is all too often heard and seen in others events such as these. Both Diaz and Pacquiao know that none of that stuff is needed to sell the fight. People will always support fighters who tend to prove their worth on the ring and not through the media.

The Diaz-Pacquiao fight is going to be such. It will sell itself because of the fighters themselves:- two gentlemen who happen to fight for a living.

The Diaz-Pacquiao fight which Bob Arum aptly described as ?Lethal Combination, owing to the fact that both fighters have similar styles and temperament and thus will go at it until the last bell. It is scheduled at the Mandalay Bay Casino Resort on June 28, 2007 and will be shown live on PPV.

As early as today, people in the know about the betting odds at Las Vegas pegged the fight in favor of Pacquiao. The Filipino fireball is +400 while the gentleman warrior from Chicago is -320.

When Pacquiao and Diaz were each given a chance to speak before the media, both were respectful of each other. They were likewise thankful to Top Rank for putting the fight together and they promised that the fight will be an exciting event. ?It will be exciting much as the Diaz-Pacquiao 2, 3, 4, and 5,? Diaz said referring to what he expects as a fight that would generate not only a trilogy but as a possible best of 5 event.

Next week the press conference will be in Chicago, the hometown of Diaz. Then there will be an open work out for Pacquiao somewhere at the ?Filipino Town? at a park along Alvarado Street next to the 101 Freeway a week after that.
