LAS VEGAS -- Sure as the sun rising every morning, the prediction of many boxing experts, pundits and bookmakers as to the expected result of tonight’s fight was spot on.

At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Canelo Alvarez, the redhead from Guadalajara, Mexico narrowly beat Gennady G. Golovkin of Kazakhstan over 12 rounds during the Trilogy that was built up as a blockbuster.

But it was far from that!

It was all Canelo from the first bell up to the last. Golovkin, to be fair, had his moments but it was not enough to turn the tide. Much to his credit however, he stood his ground and never fall.

Those that predicted the Canelo win has said it succinctly. Golovkin was almost inactive in the past three years. His mind may have been sharp, but the body could not respond well. At 40 years old Golovkin could not just muster enough to keep the younger Canelo off of him. His jabs that served him so well at their first fight was barely there.

Sensing that he was behind, GGG upped the fight tempo in the last rounds but all his efforts were not enough to overcome the early lead of Canelo.
