Moloney Drops Palicte Twice En Route to a 3rd Round TKO Win

Jason Moloney of Australia drops Aston Palicte of the Philippines two times in the 3rd round en route to a 3rd round TKO victory on the main undercard of the Kambosos-Haney bout at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia Sunday afternoon broadcast live on ESPN.

Palicte who fought twice for a world title, started in the right footing connecting with some well-timed uppercuts on his popular Australian opponent. Moloney, also a twice world title challenger the last one against Japanese star Naoya Inoue, came back in the second half of the first round connecting with rights to the head of Palicte.

In the second round, Moloney came aggressive and made the fight inside with non-stop action as both fighter had their moments.



In the third round Palicte tried to be more aggressive throwing his uppercuts but Moloney caught him with a wicked right to the chin sending the Filipino to the canvas badly shaken. Palicte was able to get up but Moloney came right at him with volumes of punches. A left-right combination sent Palicte to the canvas for the second time. Referee Ignatius Missailidis had seen enough punishment and wave off the fight at 2:35 of the round for TKO victory for the Moloney.

Moloney's victory puts him back in the mix for a title hunt improving his record to 24-2-0 with 19KOS. Palicte dropped to 28-5-1, 23KOs.
