In what was designated as an activity fight, former WBO bantamweight champion and No. 1 ranked superbantam Marlon Tapales of the Philippines easily disposed overmatched Mexican warrior Jose Estrella in the second round of their 8-round scheduled match Saturday night at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, CA.
A wicked body shot by the 'Maranding Nightmare' sent Estrella to the canvas and was counted out by Referee Ray Corona at 1:39 in the second round.

Tapales (36-3-0, 19KOs) now awaits his chance to fight Unified IBF and WBA superbantam champion Murodjon Alhmadliev to which he is the mandatory challenger. Tijuana native journeyman Estrella further dropped his record to 23 wins, 19 losses and 1 draw.
