Laamouz spoke on Malta and the signficant of him winning this title for his country.
What was it like growing up in Malta?
Malta is wonderful and sunny. I had a normal childhood, school and a typical teenage life. I was always into sports and when I met combatsports in june 2007 and my life changed.
When did you begin boxing?
I was in Brighton at this gym ZT fight school in December 2007. I originally went to do MMA. The coaches there saw that I had a better way of boxing for me. And there was no one in my weight class in MMA. So I ended up boxing instead.
In January 2008 I met a trainer in Malta, Scott dixon, and my boxing kept improving, In 2009 I started my amateur career up until December 2014.
How many Amateur fights did you have?
I had about 60 -63 amateur fights.
How much of difference does it make for you that your travel distance for this fight is fairly short and in the same time zone?
I'm used to traveling and fighting. 2 days prior to fight is more than enough time to relax and adjust.
Did your training for this fight change given that this is for an international title?
Its more like going back to my good days. My younger days.
The reason I say this is because I have been injured badly for over 2 years and couldn't prepare for fights at my maximum potential. Now I am back and my old routine is back and I feel very confident and ready.
Do you think this fight will be aired in Malta?
I think so. I'm sure they will stream the fight.
What would winning this title mean for Malta boxing and winning it outside of your country?
Not to brag , but I have been winning titles out of Malta since the beginning of my career. I am back! I will be ready for bigger challenges. I am putting my country into history 💪
