Knockout artist sensation Edgar Berlanga of Brooklyn, New York continued his mystic by taking out Lanell Bellows of Las Vegas at 1 minute 19 seconds of the first round in their 8-round super middleweight scheduled bout to keep his streak of first round knockout wins on the undercard of the Loma-Lopez lightweight unified championship at The Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Berlanga, 23, who had never gone beyond the first round in his professional career, completely decimated ring veteran Bellows, 34 who had 28 fights going in. It seemed every punch that landed from Berlanga had a damaging effect on Bellows who had his eyes reddened and face contorted. The first hit, a right to the head, wobbled Bellows. A barrage of follow up punches backed up Bellows to the ropes and as he was about to fall, Referee Robert Hoyle wave off the fight.

Berlanga has now stopped his 15 opponents in the first round while Bellows, who had never been stopped before, dropped to 20-6-3, 13KOs.
