Vargas clocks Castaneda.

Joshue Vargas of Bronx, New York via Puerto Rico dominated Kendo Castaneda of San Antonio, Texas to win by landslide in their 10-round super lightweight bout on the undercard of the Loma-Lopez unified lightweight championship at The Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Vargas was the busier fighter who threw crisp and sharp punches in bunches and completely dominated Castaneda in the whole night where he scored a knockdown in the second round with a straight left to the jaw. Castaneda's nose was bleeding from the second round and his mouth also bled in the 6th round.

In the sixth round however, Castaneda landed a wicked right to the head of Vargas that somehow halted Vargas's train wreck and for the first time had Vargas backing up.

But Castaneda's nose and mouth injury obviously bothered him and he failed to capitalize and changed the fight's momentum as Vargas cruised to finish the fight too far ahead in the scorecards.

Judge Lisa Giampa had it 100-89, Max De Luca 98-91 and Steve Weisfeld 99-90 all in favor of Vargas.

Vargas now improves to 18 wins, 1 loss with 9 knockouts while Castaneda dropped to 17-3-0, 8KOs.
