In a scheduled 8-round featherweight bout, Jose Enrique Vivas of Texcoco, Mexico made short work of the Philippines' Jan Vicente Moralde stopping the Filipino at 1:16 of the first round on the undercard of the Loma-Lopez undisputed lightweight championship at The Bubble at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Davao City's Moralde (23-4-0, 13KOs) came in throwing nice jabs against Vivas but the Mexican forced his way inside and while Moralde tried to hold on Vivas, the Mexican connected with a left to the face of Moralde sending Moralde to the canvas for a knockdown.
Sensing Moralde hurt, Vivas pursued the Filipino and connected with two wicked body shots that sent Moralde to the canvas for the second time. The referee immediately stopped of the fight seening Moralde grimacing in pain.
Vivas now improves to 20 wins, 1 loss with 11 KOs while Moralde suffered his 4th loss and dropped to 23-4-0, 13KOs.
