WBO superbantam titlist Emanuel Navarrete of Mexico retained his belt by stopping Filipino challenger Jeo Santisima in the 11th round on the undercard of the Wilder- Fury II heavyweight championship at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).
Fighting relaxed and extremely confident, Navarrete dominated Santisima all night with his precise and volume punches where he smoothered the punch-drunk Filipino in round five and ten. Santisima's best punch was in round four where he connected with a left to the neck of Navarrete that momentarily staggered the defending champion but Santisima, who seemed to wait for his perfect punch, failed to throw enough punches to give any semblance of competition.
In the 11th round, Navarrete again rained Santisima with punches from all angles and this time the Filipino finally broke as he failed to any counters that forced Referee Russell Mora to intervene and waived off the fight at 2:40 of the round for a TKO win the Mexican.
Santisima congratulates Navarrete after the fight.
