NAGA CITY, Cebu – The band of brothers didn't fare well during Saturday's 'Brawl in Naga I' boxing event as the three Saludar brothers were almost sent packing back to Polomok all in defeat had it not for former WBO title-holder Vic Saludar who showed his champion's heart by rising from the canvas in the second round and then stopping his opponent Mike Kinaadman in the fateful 6th round.
Despite the heavy rains brought about by a low pressure area that has now intensified into a tropical depression that snarled traffic coming into this progressive southern city, boxing fans come in droves to witness the ring drama that unfolded at the Enan Chiong Activity Center here. Kinaadman, who had already been defeated twice by Saludar, by decision and by knockout, caught the former champion with a crushing left to the jaw for the knockdown. Saludar stood up to beat the count grinding his jaw to probably assess its damage and survived the round as Kinaadman unleased more bombs.

Saludar tried to catch up by throwing his patented right straights but was frustrated by Kinaadman who surprisingly boxed very well and scored with his fast counters and combinations. Kinaadman grew more confident dancing and countering Saludar who continued to miss his bombs. In the 6th round however, Saludar connected with a wicked left to the liver of Kinaadman who dropped to the canvas writhing in pain. Kinaadman tried to get up but stumbled back to the canvas as Referee Tony Pesons reached the count of 10 for a KO victory by Saludar.

Saludar, who many think was lucky to escape with the victory over Kinaadman, now improves to 20 wins, 4 losses with 11 wins by short distance and maintain his lofty world rankings. Kinaadman dropped to 7 wins, 13 losses and 2 draws.
Vic's younger brothers, Jakeson and Van June, were not as lucky as Van June earlier succumbed to Justine Darap with a majority decision loss. Van June dropped to 5-3-2 win-loss-draw record. The promising Darap has improved to 8 wins and one loss.

Jake Amparo flattens Jakeson Saludar.
Jakeson Saludar suffered his first defeat in five pro fights at the hands of Jake Amparo who was faster and throw more counters and combinations that exposed Jakeson's defensive weakness. As Amparo piled up points and dished out punishment at Jakeson the whole night, the upstart Jakeson finally crumpled into the canvas in the 6th round totally gassed out. Jakeson was helped with an oxygen to out of the ring.
Casey Morton drops Saowaluk Nareepangsri.
Former world title challenger Casey Morton of Hawaii won by TKO over Thai lady fighter Saowaluk Nareepangsri in the 5th round. Action was rugged as the Thai fighter made the fight into a brawl but Morton maintained her poise and continued to score with her lead rights. Nareepangsri wilted from the accumulated punishment and dropped to the canvas in the 4th round and finally run out of gas in the 5th round.
April Jay Abne drops Isagani Llaban.
In the nights' outstanding performance, highly regarded prospect April Jay Abne (5-0-0, 2KOs) displayed mature boxing skills by sending Isagani Llaban (3-2-1) to the canvas in the first round and then finished his game opponent at 47 seconds of the second round. Abne won the recent ESPN5's UBS boxing series flyweight championship.
Bryan James Wild takes out Melanio Torremocha at 25 seconds of the first round.
Another rising prospect Bryan James Wild (4-0-0, 3KOs) made short work of Melanio Torremocha (0-2-0) who he disposed Torremocha at 25 seconds of the first round with crushing left cross to the head. Torremocha, never saw what hit him and was counted out by Referee Tony Pesons.

Jesriel Bonghanoy won his debut fight against Marlon Alejandro by majority decision. Scores: 39-37, 39-37 and 38-38.
Kevin Smith Nemenso won by majority decision over Marvin Laping with scores of 40-36, 39-37 and 38-38
John Paul Cabunillas won by 3rd round TKO over Gary Rojo
Ian Abne won his pro debut against Marvin Campo by first round TKO.
