Chicago -- In the greatest comeback of this young season thus far, the Chicago Bulls rallied from eight points down with 45.4 seconds left to play and stung the Charlotte Hornets, 116-115, on Saturday night (Sunday morning RP time) at the Spectrum Centre.
Zach LaVine was the chief miracle worker with 49 points, including a game-winning 3 with less than a second to go.
LaVine LaVine sank 17 of 28 field goals and made 13 of 17 from downtown. Lauri Markkanen struggled with just three points but Wendell Carter Jr picked up the slack with 17 points and 11 boards. Coby White, the stellar rookie who went to college at the University of North Carolina, added 12 off the bench.
With a 6-11 record, the Bulls are still deep down 11th place in the Eastern Conference, but this huge road victory could provide the impetus to put together a run.
"Like I've been saying, we've been playing well in stretches. We just executed to perfection down the stretch. Obviously, you know, we got blessed a little bit with some luck. We can take this energy and go on to the next game," LaVine told the Associated Press.
It was stinging loss to the Hornets, who shot 55 percent from the field but committed a costly turnover than set the stage for LaVine's heroics.
Terry Rozier led Charlotte with 28 points and five assists. Devonte Graham had 18 points and Marvin Williams contributed 21. Biyombo pitched in 11 and 12 rebounds.
