Makati City, Philippines (November 14, 2019) -- As they say, every dark cloud has a glittering silver lining.

Bong Arizala, who is now an active employee of Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and GAB executives Chairman Baham B. Mitra, Dr. Jesucito Garcia, Ofelina C. Retardo, promoters, managers, and GAB employees cheerfully welcomed Japan Boxing Commission chief and Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Secretary General Tsuyoshi Yasukochi and Japan Professional Boxing Association head Ryuko Kazuhiro at GAB office in Makati.

JBC chief Tsuyoshi Yasukochi and JPBA head Ryuko Kazuhiro made good of their promise that they would give Arizala financial aid after the mishap in Japan last March 18. Lo and behold, the 25-year-old Filipino boxer received Three Million Yen or One Million Four Hundred Thousand Pesos (P1,400,000.00) cash assistance from JBC in addition to the free-of-charge medical grant given by said boxing organization for his brain surgeries in Yokohama.

Arizala endured a three and half hour brain surgeries at Yokohama City Minato Red Cross Hospital, Yokohama, Japan after he was knocked out by Japan boxing star Tsuyoshi Tameda.

Per his medical diagnoses issued by Japanese Neurologist Dr. Kagemichi Nagao and GAB Medical Division Chief Dr. Radentor Viernes, the 25-year-old Pinoy boxer suffered an acute subdural haemorrhage.

“Japan is not only our friend but also our partner in promoting the welfare of our professional boxers. Last year, GAB and JBC inked an agreement allowing [Pinoy] professional boxers to fight in Japan provided that they will obtain a travel authority from GAB. While, Japanese pro boxers are also allowed to fight in the Philippines provided that they will obtain an affirmation from the JBC,” said Chairman Baham Mitra during his opening message.

Chairman Mitra also announced the schedule of upcoming bouts on November 15, 2019 to fill the five vacant Philippine Championship Titles in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, a crowd of over 50 came together to congratulate Arizala for receiving an early Christmas gift from JBC.
