Former WBA champion Randy Petalcorin (31-3-1, 23KOs) won against journeyman Reymark Taday (9-11-1, 4KOs) at the Robinsons Mall in General Santos Sunday night via 8-round unanimous decision, Petalcorin's co-manager Peter Maniatis has informed PhilBoxing.com.

This was Petalcorin's second victory after getting knocked out by Felix Alvarado of Nicaragua during their IBF world flyweight championship in October last year at the Midas Hotel in Pasay City, Philippines. Last June 9, Petalcorin stopped Thai journeyman Worawatchai Boonjan (14-22-1) in the 3rd round in Quezon City to get back to the win column.

Petalcorin, ranked No. 9 by both the IBF and WBA in the flyweight division, is aiming for a rematch with Alvarado, according to Maniatis.

"Petalcorin had a nice win tonight and got some rounds but the fight we really want is a rematch with IBF world champion Felix Alvarado," Maniatis said.

Alvarado meanwhile has been scheduled to unify his IBF belt against WBC flyweight champion Ken Shiro of Japan on Dec. 23 in Yokohama.
