Former world champion and WBO/IBF No. 4 ranked superbantam Marlon Tapales and former WBA Interim world champion Jhack Tepora won their respective fights at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California Saturday night (Sunday in Manila).

Tapales (33-2-0, 16KOs) stopped Roberto Castaneda (23-12-2, 16KOs) of Mexicali, Mexico in the third round of their 10-round scheduled fight. Tapales was too much for the Mexican who he sent to the canvas in the very first round and made target practice before Referee Ray Corona saved Castaneda from severe physical damage at 1:37 in the third round. Tapales who had a low KO percentage early in his career, has now won his last seven fight inside the distance.

Former WBA Interim world champion and WBO Inter-Continental champion Jhack Tepora (23-0-0, 17KOs) returned from his embarrassing failed fight on the scales last January on the undercard of Pacquiao-Broner to dominate Jose Luis Gallegos (16-7-0, 12KOs) of Bakersfield, CA over 10 rounds. There was no knockdown but Tepora got the nod of the three judges with identical scores of 99-91 all in his favor.
