LOS ANGELES -- LeBron James sank a corner 3 with 31 seconds left to play to propel the L.A. Lakers to a much needed 125-119 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.

The trio of James, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma combined for 78 points of the Lakers' 125 points.

Rajon Rondo registered 11 points, 16 assists and seven rebounds while newly acquired Reggie Bullock contributed 14 points and five rebounds as a starter playing important minutes down the stretch.

In his second game back at Staples Center since signing with the Pelicans in the off-season, Julius Randle scored a team-high 35 points with six rebounds. Jrue Holiday, a SoCal native added 19 points, 10 assists and seven boards. Anthony Davis sat out the entire fourth quarter but still managed 22 points in 22 minutes of action.

The Lakers improved their record to 30-31 which helped their playoffs hopes especially after two other postseason contenders --- the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves --- lost their respective games earlier in the day.
