The Filipino Flash Nonito Donaire Jr captured another world title when he defeated Irish former WBA bantamweight world champion Ryan Burnett in a bizarre circumstance Saturday night (Sunday morning in Manila) at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, United Kingdom in the bantamweight quarterfinal of the World Boxing Super Series.

Burnett, fighting in front of his fans, thew a long right at Donaire in a 4th round action but went down afterwards in excruciating pain apparently injuring his back. He went on to finish the round trying to survive Donaire's onslaught but refused to come out for the the 5th round.

Donaire, a four division world champion who lost to Carl Frampton in the same arena last April for the WBO featherweight title, thus won by TKO at the close of the 4th round and became a world champion again snatching the WBA super world bantamweight belt and the WBC Diamond bantamweight title as well.

Donaire advances to the WBSS semifinal round and will next face Zolani Tete of South Africa, the WBO bantamweight champion, who won his quarterfinal fight against Mikhail Aloyan of Russia last month.
