OAKLAND -- The Houston Rockets used a 38-20 first quarter run to make short work of the Shanghai Sharks, 128-86, on Tuesday night at the Toyota Center.

Reigning MVP James Harden sizzled with 38 points, hitting 9-of-14 triples for the Rockets who fell one game short of making the NBA Finals last season. Chris Paul did not exploded offensively, tallying just nine, but he dished nine assists.

P.J. Tucker shot his way to 22 points for Houston, which drilled 46 of 88 field goals, a high 52.3 percent clip.

Former NBA player Luis Scola, who made his mark with the Indiana Pacers, led the Sharks with 18 points and 12 rebounds in 40 minutes. But none of the other Sharks players managed to score in double figures as the Rockets kept pouring on and scored 106 points through three quarters.

Shanghai made a decent 37 of 81 field goals but it couldn't get any traction from long distance, 5-of-15.
