Donaire?s Weight is Just Right

LOS ANGELES -- Nonito Donaire, Jr., the flashy Filipino flyweight champion is not only a classy young man. He is well discipline one too particularly when it involves the business at hand.

Case in point: This morning, Wednesday East Coast time, Donaire weigh in exactly at 113.6 lbs.

?Di na kailanggan bantayan ang bata to keep track of his weight,? informed his father, Nonito Sr. ?He knows what is needed and he just gets it done?, he added

That, is discipline!

I mentioned this because, many times I have seen our Filipino boxers overweight at the scales a day before the fight. Of course, we can only blame the boxers themselves for lack of discipline and the trainers and managers for not keeping an eye on them.

With Donaire, weight is not an issue. He expects to be 112 lbs on Friday afternoon at the weight-in.

The rest of the Donaire family are flying in to Connecticut via Las Vegas tomorrow evening. This writer is joining them later that night to cover the weight in and the fight night.

Stay tune on PhilBoxing for photos from the weight in on Friday and from the ringside on Saturday.
