
LIU STOPS TAMBORESI, ZHOU OUTPOINTS WAHID IN JINAN

JINAN, CHINA - Liu Zhong used a short left to the midsection to topple Afrizal Tamboresi of Indonesia in the opening round of the main bout held Friday at the Maida Energy Sports Center.
Referee Mekin Sumon of Thailand signaled the end at the 1:43 mark. Liu remains unbeaten at 12-0,4KO?s while Tamboresi drops to 11-8,6KO?s.Last year at the Huang Ting Stadium in Jinan, Liu won the vacant WBO Greater China super bantamweight title by unanimous decision against Sen Chen.
Tamboresi fought in the Philippines twice, losing to Rocky Fuentes, who knocked him out in round two three years ago, and Juan Miguel Elorde who also Ko?d him in a single round last year.
In a well fought technical battle, Zhou Bin relied on punch accuracy to beat Muhammad Wahid of Indonesia. Wahid pressed Zhou but the Chinese boxer?s pinpoint counters gave him the nod of the three judges ? Yuan Yunzi ? 59-55, Mekin Smon 58-56, Cheng Zhiwei ? 58-56.
Zhou is now 8-1-1,0KO while Wahid suffered his first loss at 4-1,1KO.
For the undercard matches:
Wang Hao knocked out Cui Tianyi in the first round with a body shot, Du Yingshuang beat Zhang Shangxiang by majority decision in a hard fought contest, Saierlan Muerzhabieke won by TKO in the third round agaianst Liu Zhi Bin, Zhou Long scored a knockdown in the fourth and final round and beat Zhu Yongxin by unanimous verdict, Ma Qian beat Zhao Guangxian by TKO in the second round and Peng Yong stopped Guo Yuru also in two rounds.
On the second day of the back to back fight card, Chu Guoqi beat Ma Hai by unanimous decision, Lu Wenjie prevailed over Fu Jianbao also by unanimous nod while Hong Chuanxun stopped Wu Zhou in three rounds.
