MANILA, Philippines -- Colombian boxer Gabriel Mendoza and his team arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Tuesday afternoon ahead of his 12-round IBF mini flyweight (105 lbs) eliminator against undefeated young Filipino Mark Anthony Barriga (8-0, 1 KO), a battle to take center stage this coming Sunday May 13 at SM City North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City, Metro Manila.
The fight is paramount for both boxers because the winner gets a direct shot at the IBF-105 world title.
"It's a great pleasure to arrive in the great land of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, said the 38 year-old Mendoza, a soldier in active duty in the Armed Forces of Colombia.
"I had a really long trip from my home in Colombia to the Philippines, but I feel good and I am truly delighted to be here. Thanks be to God for that," added the experienced Mendoza (29-5-2, 23 KO's), a former world title challenger.

The Barriga-Mendoza 12-round eliminator is the main event of "Survival Instinct," a 12-fight card designed to thrill fans at SM Skydome in Quezon City this coming Sunday May 13.
